Princeton - Bloomsbury

Princeton - Bloomsbury

I’ve had a couple tracks from the Princeton - “Bloomsbury” relase on repeat lately. Band made up of two brothers who started their band while living on Princeton street in Santa Monica. Give “waves” a listen for a fun sample.

Unreleased Download: Sleeping At Last
Posted by Kurt

SALWe here at Evade, like to encourage quality music and one of the bands that we admire is Sleeping At Last. SAL is an independent alternative rock band from Illinois. Both their albums Ghosts and Keep No Score are personal favorites or mine that I keep coming back to on the ipod. A couple weeks ago they were asked to participate in a campaign for the Humane Society of the United States which aims to raise awareness about animals. For more info go here. But SAL recorded a new song “All Things Bright & Beautiful” and it’s for free here. Enjoy.

This Will Destroy You [worth a listen]
Posted by Shay

This Will Destroy You
No, we’re not making death threats here at evade, we’re talking about the ambient rock band from Texas known as This Will Destroy You. A friend recently turned me on to these guys and at first listen was hooked. This Will Destroy You is an instrumental rock band with a lot of attitude and heart. It’s the kind of music you write poetry to or the kind of music you think deeply to. No, I don’t think they are for everyone, but tonight they were just the kind of music for me. Every song has a personality all to its own and you’ll get lost in their 7-10 minute tracks. My initial thoughts: this is beautiful music.

You can find This Will Destroy You on MySpace and they are basically streaming their entire album there. Also, emusic.com has their album available for purchase and Last.Fm is streaming their stuff. Enjoy, and as always your comments are welcome here.

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour
Though only being together for a little less than a year, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour have already made leaps and bounds in their musical exposure. There must be some geniuses (pun intended) working at Apple, because they discovered TAGT before anyone else and featured them on the new iPod Touch ad. I just finished listening their forthcoming EP (due out Oct. 28th) and I’m actually pretty excited about these kids. They’ve got a pretty fun sound that I don’t quite know how to explain. So I guess you’ll just have to listen for yourself.

Here’s a free track to tide you over until the 28th [click here to download and listen]. Hear more from The Asteroids Galaxy Tour at their official site.

Theresa Andersson | A One Girl Band
Posted by Shay

evade the noise’s own Abe [the director] turned me on to Theresa Andersson and I was impressed by what this girl can lay down in a matter of minutes. It’s one thing to have a voice that challenges Alicia Keys, but it’s a whole different thing to (while singing) play the violin, guitars, hand claps, drums, etc. all by yourself. Theresa Andersson blends her creative Swedish roots with the soul of Louisiana in a one-girl-band that everyone will enjoy. Check out the above video and you’ll see what we mean.
