Last week, The Walking Dead‘s Executive Producer, Gale Anne Hurd, announced that the series would be returning for season two on Sunday, October 16 to the AMC cable network. The Walking Dead, based on the hit comic book series by Robert Kirkman, follows a group of survivors after the dawn of the zombie apocalypse.
Season one of The Walking Dead originally aired on October 31, 2010. The show was nominated for three Emmy Awards: Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup For A Series, Miniseries, Movie Or A Special, Outstanding Sound Editing For A Series, and Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Series.
Season two will feature 13 episodes and will follow the band of survivors during their escape from Atlanta into the countryside.
The show’s website describes the plot as…
…an epic, edge-of-your-seat drama where personal struggles are magnified against a backdrop of moment-to-moment survival. A survivalist story at its core, the series explores how the living are changed by the overwhelming realization that those who survive can be far more dangerous than the mindless walkers roaming the earth.
